"DON'T BE GONE" Live August 6th, 2011

Covid19

We are living in an exploding world right now. Updating my website seems almost insignificant in light of so much loss, so much fear. As I write this, protests are erupting all over the country for George Floyd, another black man murdered by a white police officer. Yes, #blacklivesmatter and I'm sick to death of the racial divide in our country. I'm sick to death of waking up to yet another incident involving white against black.

Covid19 is alive and well even as the country is opening up. Out here on our tiny island we are playing it safe, following the rules, wearing masks and social distancing. I'm blessed that no one in my immediate circle has gotten sick.

So what does music have to do with this? There are no live performances in sight for the foreseeable future but that doesn't stop me from being completely engaged in writing, co-writing, recording and singing at the top of my lungs. Music has always gotten me through tough times and thank God it's something I can immerse myself in.

Be well friends. Take care of yourself and others. Be kind.

I feel a protest song coming on.

MOVING

As of September, 2018 a monumental event occured in my life! I moved to my favorite place in the world - Block Islsnd, RI. It's been an adjustment but I'm settling in to my new home and loving every minute of it! I'll be living in the historic Harbor Church with my husband (Pastor Peter Preiser) and continuing to perform on the island and off, as well as weekly music at the church. So much change - but change is good and I'm writing new songs and plan on recording in January 2019, with my daughter, Julia Davis at the helm producing! Life is a blessing.

HAPPY 2018

HAPPY 2018 EVERYONE!

2017 was a wonderful year performing with my band and amazing songwriters. I've been busy writing and am about to record a new EP - release date? When it's finished. Songwriting is always a personal journey for me and I've taken some experiences from this past year to document in song. I'm excited for you all to hear so be on the lookout.

In the meantime, I have shows in the winter and already I'm already lining up gigs for spring, summer and fall! I hope to be able to perform for you live - so check out the calendar and come join me!

As always I wish you all a year ahead filled with great music, good health, lots of love and happiness and of course, a heart filled with gratitude.

Peace and Love.

Carrie

STRENGTH TO MOVE

The release of a new album is always exciting for me - it's one more body of work I can share with you. I was having coffee this morning and the beautiful cardinal came by to say hello. This bird visits me almost every morning - for about a year now. I started writing a song about him - turned it into a sparkling pop song and that just got me thinking. The one question I get asked a lot is - "what kind of music do you play?" I try and search for an answer to that one and I'm always stumped by that.

For me, the beauty of being an artist is that I write what I feel. I think the more appropriate question would be - what kind of music do I love? I love a great melody, and I love thought provoking lyrics - I love to listen to a good story in three minutes - I love being moved by a song.

"Strength To Move" is a blend - there are some jangly pop songs, there's country pop, there's a little bit of folk. I don't ever stick to one genre and I like it that way. I can write a song with more blatant lyrics like the cheater song - "There's The Door", or bring it down a notch to more reflection on "Double Dare". Why don't you take a listen and send me an e-mail - YOU tell ME what kind of music I play - I want to know! Thanks for taking the time to listen to my new album...
